Activity 1: Language (Speaking): Mystery
Bag
Duration: 15 minutes
Materials: 2 bags (could be shopping bags), toys/objects (a spoon, tooth
paste, eraser, a glue stick anything that is
available in the house.
Vocabulary: you may expand the child’s vocabulary by saying the names of the
objects (sharpener, eraser, cards) the colours (dark blue, light green) the
shapes (heart, star, oval) or describing the touch (smooth, soft, hard) etc.
Beginning: Ask your child to pick 4 toys or objects from his/her room and hide
it in his bag. The adult can also choose a few objects and hide them in the
adult’s bag.
Middle: Ask your child to pick up a toy or object from his/her bag and
start to talk about it while he/she is still hiding the object until you can
guess what it is. Encourage your child to describe the toy/object and help
him/her elaborate by asking him/her questions relating to the function (Can I
use it in the kitchen? in the bathroom?). Listen and acknowledge what the child
is saying.
End: Take turns and help your child learn new vocabulary words. Give
him/her a 3-minute warning. Ask your child to help clean up by taking the
object back to their place
Extension: Your child could talk about objects and the
senses that he/she uses for each object. For example: Feather=Touch, sun/moon=
sight, any fruit/vegetable=taste, music=hear and flower=smell
Brain Break ! Walking Walking
Activity 2: Math: Data analysis / Fine motor: Sorting and transferring with tongs (or a spoon)
Duration: 10-15 minutes
Materials: Tray, tongs or tweezers, a few
pompoms 4 different colours and sizes of
each (pompom, buttons, Lego pieces) or
any small objects that can be picked with tweezers or tongs, 4 bowls depending
on how many colours you have.
Vocabulary: tongs, tray, tweezers, transfer, shapes, big, small, medium, long, objects etc.
Beginning: Place all the materials in the tray in front of your child and ask
him/her to sort the materials by colour using the tweezers/tongs, transferring
them into separate bowls.
Middle: Describe and acknowledge what your child is doing or saying. You
can ask how many objects he/she thinks will be in each bowl. Then encourage
him/her to count how many objects there are in each bowl. You can encourage the
child to name the objects.
End: Encourage your child to transfer the objects back to the
tray. Give a 3-minute warning before the
end of the activity and then encourage your child to clean up.
Extension: You can ask your child to re-sort the objects by a different
attribute (size, shape or function).

Today's song is: I Wish You Well
Activity 1: Science (Volcano Experiment)
Duration: 15 minutes
Materials:
1-cup vinegar
3-4 tablespoons baking soda
1-teaspoon dish soap
Red food colour or paint (optional)
Empty plastic bottle or cup
Beginning: Show the materials to the child and ask what he/she thinks you can
make with it. Give them a hint that it’s something that’s really hot and
erupts.
Middle: Ask the child to put all the ingredients inside the bottle one by
one. While gently shaking the bottle,
ask the child what he/she thinks may happen next (Make sure you do not cover
the bottle, otherwise, the ingredients inside will splash everywhere once you
uncover the bottle). Once the volcano erupts, use words like, ‘Lava’ and
‘Erupt.’
End: You may let the child put a little bit more baking soda in the
bottle for the lava to continue to erupt and then give a two minutes warning
and then ask him/her to clean up.
Extension: You could show your child a video of a volcano when it erupts, you
could do
another volcano experiment this time using a lemon. Or play the game
‘the floor is lava’. To play the floor is lava game, the child has to avoid
stepping on the floor by jumping onto furniture or high surfaces or you could
place different coloured paper and have them jump onto them without touching
the floor. You could explain to the child that lava is hot and if you touch it,
you're out of the game.

Activity 2: Mathematics: Counting (Dot
Cards)
Duration: 15 Minutes
Materials: Dot cards, paper, black marker (Make them like the picture above),
pompoms/buttons/coins etc.
Beginning: Show the cards with the dots to the child. Ask him/her what they
see. Once they say that they see cards with dots on them, say, “I wonder how
many dots there are on this card” (While pointing at a specific card)
Middle: Once the child counts the dots, prompt him/her to count as many
pompoms/buttons/coins by putting one on each dot. Repeat this with all the
number cards.
End: Give the child a two minutes warning and then ask him/her to place
all the buttons/pompoms/coins back in the container while counting them.
Extension: Encourage the child to find other objects around the house with
the same number as the dots on the card and give them a set time i.e. 2
minutes, at the end of the time count down from 10 and have them count the
objects and check if they matched.

Today's song is: Follow The Leader
Activity 1: Math & Fine Motor – Making a tower
Duration: 10-15 minutes
Materials: Blocks/Lego, ruler/tape measure.
Vocabulary: Blocks/Lego, tower, tall, big,
bigger, biggest, small, smaller, smallest, measure, length, count, more or
less.
Beginning: Tell the child that today they will
make a tower out of blocks and you wonder who will make the tallest tower. (The
adult works with her own material beside the child) (If they choose to do
something else it is ok.)
Middle: As the child builds his/her tower
notice the way in which they are stacking the blocks i.e. “I see you are
putting all the …blue blocks then you… or “I see you put blue, green and then
red, I wonder what you will put next.” Then encourage the child to count how
many blocks he or she used and compare who used more or less blocks.
End: At the end ask the child whose
tower looks bigger/ smaller they may say their tower is bigger you can tell
them, “I wonder how we can measure whose tower is bigger”, encourage them to
help in deciding what they can use to measure, if they need help you can
suggest a ruler. At the end of the activity give the child a 5-minute warning
and then have them clean up. You can sing a clean-up song or ask them if they
could teach you one while cleaning up.
Extension: You could have the child make tally marks or write down the
number of blocks they used, or draw the same length on a piece of paper then
compare both lengths. You could also ask your child what other objects they
think they could make a tower out of like packets of tissue or tissue rolls
etc.
(The purpose of this activity is to count one to one
correspondence, use and understand measurement terms and more or less
quantities.)

Activity 2: Science & Creative Arts – Magic Milk Experiment and Marbled
Milk Painting
Duration: 10-15 minutes
Materials: A deep dish/ tray, full fat milk,
earbuds, cup of dishwashing liquid, 2/3 different colours of food colouring,
paper, apron/smock.
Vocabulary: Milk, earbuds, dish/tray, swirl,
move/moving, mix, colour/s marbled painting, paper
Beginning: Tell the child today they will make
a Magic Milk experiment ask them to predict what they think will happen when
they mix everything together, ask “Why do you think it's magic?
Middle: While the child adds food colouring
and dishwashing liquid, notice and repeat what the child says, they may say
it’s moving, ask them “I wonder what will happen if you add more colours” etc.
End: After noticing all the colours the
child made and how the colours swirled in the milk and asking them if their
predictions were correct give the child a 5-minute warning and encourage them
to clean up and wash their hands.
Extension: Tell the child now they will make a marbled milk painting and ask
them “I wonder what will happen if we add paper”. Then
encourage the child to dip the paper into the milk by placing the paper on the
surface of the milk. You can ask the child to count to 5 and take the paper out
and leave to dry.
(The purpose of this activity is to encourage the child to make
predictions, compare whether they happened, allow them to observe and
explain.)

Activity 1: Science: Making bubbles
Duration: 10 minutes
Materials: bowl, soap, straw
Beginning: Tell your child that today we will blow bubbles using straw. Let
your child help you to pour soap and water in a bowl. Talk about safety rules;
not to drink that water.
Middle: Before experimenting, demonstrate how to blow. Blow your finger and
say, “It’s like blowing a candle”. Give vocabulary: deep breath, few, several,
blow
End: Imitate your child and describe different sizes of bubbles. Let
your child predict what might happen if you add too much water or soap. You may
have a bowl for yourself. Give 3 minutes warning.
Extension: Your child may add food colour with soap and
water to see coloured bubbles.

Activity 2: Creative Art / Fine motor skills: Cut
lines and paste
Duration: 15 minutes
Materials: 2 A4 size papers, pencil/marker, scissors, glue
Beginning: Draw straight lines and let your child cut on the lines using
scissors.
Middle: Your child may rip and cut. You may talk and demonstrate the use of
scissors. Give vocabulary: cut, open, close, hold
End: 3 minutes warning. Give them paper and glue to paste the lines or
pieces that he/she cut.
Extension: Encourage the child to make something using the
lines, you could say “I’m going to make letters (which have straight lines
only) with my lines, I wonder what you will
make?” (You could make letter A, H, T using the straight lines)

Fine motor skills: Play dough letters
Duration:
10 minutes
Materials: play dough
Beginning: Tell
your child that today we are going to use play dough to make our first letter.
Middle: Give a
piece of play dough to your child and have a piece for yourself. Imitate your
child’s actions and use vocabulary: straight, curve, roll, squeeze
End: Give
your child 3 minutes warning to end the activity.
Extension:
Encourage the child to make the first letter of their siblings/friends/mothers
or fathers name.

Activity 2: Science / Creative Art: Aluminium
foil sculpture
Duration:
15 minutes
Materials: Aluminium
foil
Beginning: Tell
your child that today we will sculpt the foil into something. Describe the word
‘sculpture’: an object that is made by moulding, bending, twisting materials
into something (model it).
Middle: Have a
piece of foil for yourself and a piece for your child. Talk about the texture,
see both sides of foil and hear the sound. Use vocabulary: shiny, flat, rough,
smooth, squeeze, twist, press, fold, bend, sculpt
End: Your
child may sculpt. Encourage him/her to describe what he/she made. Give 3
minutes warning to end the activity.
Extension: Your child may paint the foil using paint brush or cotton bud.
